FACING THE HORIZON

The imaginary is the square root
of a negative number
and as such does not have
the common-sense meaning of illusory

One cannot discuss the imaginary
in ordinary physical terms
nor can one measure the length
of the imaginary in temporal terms

To ask how long is an imaginary year
is meaningless and self-defeating
because there are no singularities
in imaginary time only endlessness

As for imaginary space it is perhaps
finite but without boundaries
just as the surface of the earth
is finite but unbounded

The horizon always recedes
when we move towards it
and so whenever we face the horizon
eternity passes by in an instant
