FOOTPRINTS
she comes
to me
in joy
and tells me
that her god
is carrying her
in his hands
I tell her
it's not possible
that her god
if he exists
is too busy
to be concerned
with a single being
she insists
that she knows
her god is carrying her
in his hands
I ask her
how she knows this
she tells me
that the other day
at the beach
she felt light
and exhilarated
and when
she turned around
she saw only
one set of footprints
behind her in the sand
to me
in joy
and tells me
that her god
is carrying her
in his hands
I tell her
it's not possible
that her god
if he exists
is too busy
to be concerned
with a single being
she insists
that she knows
her god is carrying her
in his hands
I ask her
how she knows this
she tells me
that the other day
at the beach
she felt light
and exhilarated
and when
she turned around
she saw only
one set of footprints
behind her in the sand
